DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE - STRANGE FESTIVAL - CARILLON CITY - Perth CBD, Western Australia

14-23 JunE 2024

WHO DOESN’T LOVE THE MOON?

Presented in collaboration with Strange Festival, DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE was my first foray into immersive installation and multimedia work.

I was invited by Strange to ‘take over’ an abandoned retail space (specifically: a sports shoe store) in the centre of Perth’s CBD.

Over 4 ½ days, I installed and re-envisioned my project “Moonlight” by incorporating photo manipulation, lighting, sound and projection.

In a continuation of Moonlight’s exploration of how we seek out, acquire and share knowledge, I also incorporated light-hearted interactive elements: leaving out a moon-esque bowl filled with slips of paper and a notebook, inviting visitors to the site to “take a moon fact”* or “leave a moon fact.”

Do You See What I See was open to the public for 10 days, with an estimated 2000+ visitors to the site.

* The facts were not all technically moon facts... but who ever said a label and a random bowl of paper set out by a stranger was a reliable source of information?
